Dear friends
There are days maybe even seasons when the darkness feels louder than the light. When prayers seem to return unanswered, and hope feels more like a memory than a presence. You might be walking through such a time now, or carrying someone who is.
But I want to begin this letter by whispering something ancient and true:
“The flame has not gone out.”
Though the world may shout chaos, and your soul may whisper exhaustion, there remains a quiet lamp burning. A steady, faithful light not dependent on your strength to keep it going. It is God’s presence, alive and near even in the unlit corners.
In the book of Exodus, we read of the golden lampstand in the tabernacle, a symbol of God’s presence. The priests were commanded to keep the flame burning continually throughout the night. Not just when it was bright. Not only when people gathered. But always.
That same divine flame, now through Christ, burns within you.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
— John 1:5
Even in grief.
Even in silence.
Even in the waiting.
You do not need to fix everything or light up the whole world. You are not the sun.
But you carry a lamp and that is enough to take the next step.
Today, tend gently to your inner flame. Feed it with stillness. With truth. With beauty.
Even a single flicker becomes a guide when everything else is uncertain.
And if you’re feeling too weary to carry your light alone, let others hold it with you. Let me hold it with you, in this letter.
Your light has not gone out.
With you in the quiet,
